"I am searching for the piece as I make it. The process is a collaboration between myself and the materials; vestiges of time that I am piecing together onto a singular plane. The shards are waste, failures, and discarded objects. Some of the remnants are broken and abandoned ceramics from art school projects. Others are fragments I have collected from the river shoreline, which have been eroded by wind and water over time.
At close viewing, the artworks point to excess and decay. From afar, the objects comprise scenes that reference the history of still-lifes and portraiture; in particular, the artist's desire to freeze time and capture a moment."
